The sailing season is over... Today we got the mast down and prepared the boat for the winter.

During one of our stays on Terschelling we visited the tug “ De Holland”.

Some pictures of De Holland during the tour on the ship and some of our encounters during our sail trips.

As you probaly have noticed, posting is very slow this year. The reason for this is, that we have started a new project on land. Check my new blow about the building of our new house.

This weekend we sailed to Terschelling. The Royal Netherlands Maritime Rescue Team (KNRM) held their yearly SAR-event. We went on a short trip on the “Arie Visser” and  I created a short video.

If you look closely you can see that we pass Ballad 173 - Banjer (00:40s)

After a few weeks delay our Ballad is floating again. To be sure I checked the heater today. It is still cold in The Netherlands. Despite the weather we are ready for another sailing season.

A podcast is a radio transmission on the Internet. You can download a podcast or subscribe to it. The is also a podcast about sailing. Check out the Furled Sail website for more details. 

Normally we already are making preparations the get the boat into the water for the coming season. This year is still snowing and temperatures are under zero. To get in the mood, check this Internet-TV sailing channel: SAIL.tv

Recently I discovered Virtual Skipper 4. If you like sailing in regattas and you own an up-to-date PC this is a program you have to try. In the demo you are able to sail races with other people on-line. Maybe we can organize an virtual Ballad Cup in the near future.... Read more on the VS site.

I try to find information about the history of our Albin Ballad

The facts I know

• Build nr 1252, in 1977/78
• Imported from Sweden into the Netherlands in 2000 by Doornbos
• We bought the Ballad from a Dutch owner in 2002
• The Margita has sailed in the waters around Västerås Sweden (probably until 1996)
• The home-port name was removed from the boat
• I have found a picture of the Margita in a Scandinavian country
• On this picture the home-port name was already removed

I am very curious to know the number of owners, were they have sailed and all other interesting things. I hope some one can get me on the right track. Please send me a message to me or use the contact button on the top.
