Googelen op het wereldwijde web leverde een met dat van Othmar Sweers vergelijkbaar recept op van de Baskische Emilia Saenz de Vicuna in de jaren tachtig uit haar mond opgetekend door de eveneens Baskische chef Jose Castillo. Daarnaast blijkt uit een zoektocht op books.google.com en amazon.com (die de mogelijkheid bieden om in boeken te zoeken) dat meerdere kookboeken woorden wijden aan de combinatie haas (of konijn) & chocolade:

Indien en voorzover Jose Castillo de door hem uit oude Baskische vrouwenmonden opgetekende recepten heeft gepubliceerd dan is dat vermoedelijk in Recetas de cocina de abuelas vascas geweest.
Lam & Chocolade!
- 500 gram lamsvlees: in stukjes gesneden
- 1 eetlepel bloem & een plastic zakje
- 1 eetlepel olijfolie
- 1 kleine rode ui: in schijfjes gesneden
- 1 teen knoflook: in schijfjes gesneden
- 1,5 theelepel gember & 1,5 theelepel kaneel & 0,5 theelepel zout & 0,5 theelepel peper
- 1 dl rode wijn & 1 dl witte wijn
- 25 gram pure chocolade (cacaopercentage > 70%): in stukjes gebroken
- 25 gram gezouten cashewnoten
- 1 kleine goudreinet: geschild, ontklokhuist & in stukjes gesneden
- platte peterselie: gehakt
Doe de lamstukken met de bloem in een plastic zakje. Knoop het zakje dicht en hopseflots lamstukken en bloem door elkaar. Doe olijfolie, ui & knoflook, gember, kaneel, peper & zout en bebloemde lamstukken in een braadpan. Voeg wijn toe en breng aan het sudderen. Voeg overige ingredienten toe (behalve de peterselie). Laat urenlang op een laag vuur sudderen. Maak af met fijngehakte peterselie.
