Live Bait Vol. 07, compiled by Phish Archivist Kevin Shapiro, focuses on old school performances, the sole exception being the Halloween 2010 Stash recorded in Atlantic City. Highlights are Runaway Jim and the free flowing Gumbo, from the 1998 Summer tour.

Phish: Live Bait series re-release

Phish have re-released all six volumes of their Live Bait series. Originally available as free MP3 downloads, they nowa can be purschased in MP3, ALAC and FLAC.

Vol.1 and Vol.2 feature Summer 2010 tour tracks - don't bother with those if you have already picked up the full shows from that tour. Vol. 3, 4, 5 and 6 are archival collections with a theme: Worcester (3). previous Summer tours (4), Festivals (5) and Colorado (6). All sets compiled by Phish Archivist Kevin Shapiro.

Phish: Summer Tour 2012 Leg 2 dates

Phish have just announced the dates for the second leg of their Summer tour:

The second leg of Phish's 2012 summer tour will feature the band's first appearances at numerous venues - from the August 15 kickoff at Long Beach Arena in Southern California to stops at San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (8/17, 18 & 19), the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, MO (8/22), St. Louis' Chaifetz Arena (8/28) and Phish's first-ever show in Oklahoma, which will take place on August 29 at the Zoo Amphitheatre in Oklahoma City. Phish will also play a trio of southeastern dates that will include a return to Birmingham's Oak Mountain Amphitheatre on August 24 - the band's first show in Alabama since its 1999 concert at the same venue.

For the second year in a row, Phish will wrap up its summer outing at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO over Labor Day weekend (8/31, 9/1 & 2). Convenient onsite camping will be available in the lush soccer fields adjacent to the stadium. Three-day camping/parking tickets will be available at phish.portals.musictoday.com. The campground will open on Friday, August 31, at noon and close on Monday, September 3, at noon.

Mike Gordon: "Steamroller Wheelies: A Restoration Convoy" compilation

Mike Gordon is releasing the compilation album Steamroller Wheelies: A Restoration Convoy. It contains tracks he laid down over the years in various collaborations. All proceeds will be donated to the restoration of Vermont, his home state that was hit hard by Hurricane Irene in 2011. The album is released on CD and various digital formats through Phish Dry Goods and LivePhish.com.

Steamroller Wheelies: A Restoration Convoy is a compilation of collaborations between Mike Gordon and a smattering of fellow musicians; all of whom wanted to contribute to Vermont flood recovery.

The tracks were collected and compiled by Mike from various projects he's either developed or participated in over the years, beginning in 1999. All proceeds from Steamroller Wheelies will be directed towards recovery efforts, to help restore Vermont after the devastating effects of Hurricane Irene in 2011.

Steamroller Wheelies is also available on CD at Phish Dry Goods. The CD version is limited to one printing.

"The repairing of Vermont is about bringing different kinds of people together, so I wanted to do that musically with this group tracks that were recorded over the years with interesting and unique musicians, but not widely released to the public" says Gordon. Musicians who participated include Phish bandmates Page McConnell and Jon Fishman, Marco Benevento, Joe Russo, Chris Thile, Little Feat, Danny Barnes, Russell Batiste, Fonzworth Bentley, Scott Murawski, Oteil Burbridge and others.

"My entire career was based on moving to Vermont and embracing the magnificent Green Mountain vibes that infused Phish with its sound. Since our success story started with Vermont, it's natural that we immediately started contributing to the recovery efforts after Hurricane Irene. I wanted to make a personal contribution. Steamroller Wheelies gives some songs a home while helping to rebuild Vermont homes, roads, and bridges."

Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio supplied the music for a musical. Hands On A Hardbody premiers on April 27 @ La Jolla Playhouse, La Jolla, CA:

Hands On A Hardbody, the new musical by Pulitzer Prize winner Doug Wright with music by Trey Anastasio and Amanda Green, will debut April 27, 2012 at La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, CA and run through June 17, 2012. The production, based on S.R. Bindler's 1997 documentary of the same name, tells the story of a pickup-truck competition in Longview, TX.

Beginning now (and through the next 72 hours), tickets for the first two weekends of the run, April 29 and May 4-6, will be available at a special introductory price of $30 with code TRUCK2779. All other performance dates will receive a 20% discount through April 8 with code FAN5752.
