Dead Western Plains: "Alta" b/w "Gift Horse In The Mouth"

Dead Western Plains

Tucson quintet Dead Western Plains hit the ground running with a double whammy. Their single Alta b/w Gift Horse In The Mouth is a ten minutes merry-go-round of prog pop with haunting lyrics. Layered vocals drenched in echo are bidding farewell to treated guitars on their way to mischief and possible mayhem.

There is something decidedly rotten in the State of Arizona, and for music's sake it would be nice if it stayed that way. Think early Floyd meets Love, with the Beach Boys and the Clash dropping in to join to fun. Keys player Johnnie Munger should check his family tree and see if he is related in any way to Ray Manzarek, Rick Wright, Garth Hudson or Steve Winwood.

Dead Western Plains:
Johnnie Munger: vocals, accordion, piano, synthesizer, organ, glockenspiel, electronics, samples, percussion
Michael Sanger: drums, vocals, percussion
Darren Tang Simoes: guitar
Nathan Paul Ziebell: bass, vocals
Wesley Sebastian Tucker: guitar, vocals, organ

Saw these guys at Plush last night and they're just as good live! It was an incredible show. If you can get to Tucson, AZ to see them one day, do it.
