Music In Germany has announced the release of the legendary John Cale Rockpalast concerts. Cale played a solo show in 1983 and returned with his band in 1984. Both shows were taped and broadcasted by the WDR.
The concerts will be available as a high-grade vinyl double album (limited edition of 2500 copies), 2CD and 2DVD.
Release date: April 30 (Germany), May 3 (rest of the world).

When I got the MIG link via Google alert two days ago, I thought it was just a bootleg because of the 2500 copies. I should have paid more attention.

Speaking of Cale shows that were filmed, someone by the name of hclee uploaded all of Cale's 2004(?) concert that used to be posted on fabchannel.

Ok, I was just researching the releases on the MIG site.
The vinyl is the complete '84 concert with a shortened Heartbreak Hotel and then has 4 bonus tracks form the '83 concert.
Both the CD and DVD versions are both complete concerts except the CD and DVD both are missing Rise, Sam and Rimsky-Krosakov from the '83 concert. I suspect this is because on the bootleg Rise does the part so they decided not to release it.
Looks like I'm going to get both the cd and dvd :).

The best Cale shows in my humble opinion , I stayed up all night in 1984 to watch the show on Television... It was after three in the morning when the concert started.... I bought the 2LP today in Ghent (Belgium) and listening to it now! Incredible stuff....

Cale played a better show than the 1984 one in Essen 84 in Ghent a few days earlier, I'd swim the channel to see that one again.

Actually he played In Deinze a weeke earlier (John Cale, 10/07/84, Brielpoort, Deinze, Belgium - 110 minutes - AUD) at that time and not in Gent... It was indeed a once in lifetime experience for a half empty hall! One of the best shows in my life... But a week later I played my 'air flying V' before my telly and found that show even spookier... Those were the days!

He did play in Gent (if I recall correct) in february 1984 and february 1985, both shows were great, but in my humble opinion were the october shows far superior!
I would suggest to buy the Rockpalast shows on cd, LP and or DVD and enjoy! You won't regret this for a second... I feel 15 again :-)

uhhh...I'm lucky!! In the year 84 I saw the rockpalast show on tv!
John CALE & band played the concert very early at 3oclock in the morning

oops i meant Deinze not Gent....also....The 1st stooges album is to be re-issues and include the john cale mix of all the songs
