Semi Precious Weapons

Guess who has secured a record deal with a major label. Brooklyn glam rockers Semi Precious Weapons have re-recorded a couple of songs from their self-released 2007 debut We Love You and thrown in a new one for a self-titled 3 track EP.

Semi Precious Weapons: Semi Precious Weapons

The originals may have sounded a little rough but more livelier than version 2.0. A bigger budget doesn't equal a better overall sound. But the fun is still in there and there are no bozos telling them to refrain from taking risks and raising hell when they tear through their repertoire on stage. Sleazy, loud and plenty of in-between songs banter brimming with sexual innuendo, like rock used to be.

The Semi Precious Weapons EP is released on Interscope.

Tracks:
  1. Semi Precious Weapons
  2. Magnetic Baby
  3. Put A Diamond In It

John Cale in Sydney (c) Peter Andrew

John Cale
2010/01/21
"In Conversation"
Hobart, Australia

55 minutes on stage in discussion with the interviewer and then towards the end with questions from the audience. The main discussion notably focussed on John's very early career and life. The role of music in his life in his childhood, his musical education in Europe, his work with John Cage and his subsequent work with La Monte Young. He also covered his leaving Wales and Welsh and factors that influenced that. Very much about his avant-garde work and life in NY in the early 1960s. Some interesting information such as John's retaining a notebook with 350 short compositions of his in which he tried to achieve what he saw La Monte as achieving.
