Trey live @ All Points West Festival (Kravitz)

Trey Anastasio keeps him self busy. He goes on tour with a expanded line-up of Classic TAB. There is a horns section, which means that there will be seven players on stage. The first show is a benefit for the Memorial Fund for Big Red's late sister Kristine:

The tour kicks off with a special benefit show at the Jefferson Theatre in Charlottesville, VA on February 8th. The date marks what would have been the 47th birthday of Trey's sister, Kristine, an esteemed environmentalist and author who died ofneuroendocrine cancer last April. Proceeds from the show will go to the Kristine Anastasio Manning Memorial Fund, which supports many of the causes and charities she devoted herself to.

Hitting several cities that Anastasio has never played before, the dates are the first for Classic TAB since they went out as a quartet last fall. Now they're adding horns back into the mix with Russell Remington (tenor saxophone and flute) and Jen Hartswick (trumpet and vocals) once again joining Russ Lawton (drums), Tony Markellis (bass) and Ray Paczkowski (keyboards). New to the group is Natalie Cressman on trombone and vocals, who replaces her father, Jeff Cressman.

The septet will perform material that spans Anastasio's solo career, including "Push On 'Til The Day" (from 2000's Trey Anastasio), "Sweet Dreams Melinda" and "Sleep Again" (from Shine, 2005), "Goodbye Head" (Bar 17, 2006) and "Olivia" and "Burlap Sack & Pumps" (The Horseshoe Curve, 2007). They're currently in rehearsals, adapting the arrangements to suit the current configuration and working on several brand new compositions. Classic TAB has always functioned as breeding ground of sorts, with many of its songs eventually crossing over into Phish's repertoire.

An online ticket request period begins tomorrow, January 6th, at 10:00 a.m. EST at treytickets.rlc.net. Tickets will go on sale to the general public next week. (See below for itinerary and on sale dates.)

New York is the world capitol for noise. The Vandelles have tried to capture something of the grind of the Big Apple within the space of the five tracks of their self-titled EP. Taking cues from Sonic Youth and The Jesus and Mary Chain they wave dense dance tunes with a surf rock feel. Not the sunny kind with the dude with loud pants an a million dollar smile, but the one that comes up for air cursing and spitting after been hit by monster wave.

The EP has been remastered for the UK and Europe market and i e ven more in-you-face than the original Safranin Sound release. The mayhem of Dead Wave will appeal to the shoegaze crowd and opener Lovely Weather will melt the snow on your front porch.

The Vandelles:
Jason Schwartz: guitar, vocals
Suzanne Pagliorola: drums, percussion, projections & drum machine
Lisha Nadkarni: bass, vocals
Christo Buffam: guitar, vocals
David M. Herbert: projection
