Dirty rock 'n' roll. Really dirty rock 'n' roll. That is what the doctor ordered to get out of the gloom of a rainy November day. The self-titled debut by Steve Conte & The Crazy Truth is a sure fire cure. Previously only available at the merch tablle at New York Dolls gig, the album gets an proper release. No looking at the the inner self, getting in touch with your feelings and all that. No, it's about nightly cab rides, ugly truths, gambling and drugs. Oh, and the street team adventures of an Indie Girl.

New York Dolls guitar player Steve Conte and fellow rawk guys Lee "Leeko" Kostrinsky (bass, backing vocals and Phil Stewart (drums, backing vocals) are loud and obnoxious. And that's what rock 'n' roll is all about.

The doctor advices to play this album loud. Play really fucking loud. And then play it again.

Great review for a great album performed by a great guitarist. I agree, this is real New York City rock and roll in the same style as the Heartbreakers, Television, Mink Deville, the New York Dolls and Richard Hell.

Long live Steve Conte and the Crazy Truth. Standout track has to be Gypsy Cab. Doo-wop, baby, bring on the Shangri-las!
