Hey Hey Melodica
l. to. r: Jeffrey Geesa, Nathaniel Sparks, Anthoney Scroggins, David Petrison

Indie from Indianapolis, Indiana. Hey Hey Melodica is built around singer and guitar player Anthoney Scroggins who used to dabble in punk before being immersed in vintage melodic pop music made by The Zombies and the Beach Boys. The Sinking Ship & the Landlocked Sailor is the sophomore release of a group that is exploring well documented folk tunings mashed with bass lines and drum patterns lifted from The Clash (in their quieter moments, that is).

Guitar player David Petrison lays down the tinkling melodies that bring back memories of Elliot Smith and Big Star. Scroggins has retained a rough edge on his vocals from his punk days, singing about loss with barely contained anger and frustration.

Hey Hey Melodica:
Jeffrey Geesa: drums
David Petrison: electric guitar
Nathaniel Sparks: bass
Anthoney Scroggins: vocals, guitar

Working with the Kinks, there always seemed to be some kind of automatic process at work. Ray and I had this telepathy happening for a long time, where one of us always knew what the other could do with something.
