Polly and the Billets Doux
photo: Alexandra Hill

If you need a little melody, turn to Polly and the Billets Doux, a UK quartet fronted a husky sounding lady, who rides shotgun on double bass. This is a band using vintage guitar tones and deceptively simple sounding drums. The debut album Fiction, Half-Truths and Downright Lies is filled with the kind of muisc you want to hear in small halls where the audience has the decency to shut up and listen to the music.

The sound is melting pot of jazz, folk and gospel, with the vocalists alternating between call-and-repsonse and harmonizing. Polly and the Billets Doux are not about the latest fads and in-the-studio wizardry, but about expanding the songbook of standards.

Polly and the Billets Doux:
Polly Perry: vocals, double bass
Andrew Steen: electric / acoustic & slide guitar, harmonica, vocals
Daniel Everett: electric & double bass, acoustic guitar, vocals
Ben Perry: drums
