Is Chickenfoot a side project of four musicians with some spare time on their hands? Joe Satriani, Chad Smith (RHCP), Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar (both former Van Halen members) teamed up for a rock album and a tour that will hit Europe this summer.

The self-titled debut album drops in June on earMusic (Europe, Australia and Japan June 5th, the UK June 8th, the album will be released by Best Buy in America on June 8th).

This is awesome news! What a power-band. I love Michael Anthony's playing and am looking forward to hearing what grooves, stonkin' backbone he and Chad can lay down with such melodic kings as Sammy and Joe. Good on you guys. It's a shame you're not coming to Australia (yet!) :-)
