Caught In Motion live up to their name. They captured a batch of slightly poppy songs into ones and zeros for their debut disc named On the Edge of a Dream. This being a young band in the first decade of 21st century this Portland band did not look far back for inspiration - Radiohead, mid-period R.E.M. and The Decemberists come to mind. Production wise this album suffer a bit. This balance is off at times, but for a self-released album the playing is confident - they know they have good stuff to share - and especially the keyboards survived the pushing up and down of the faders on the mixing desk.
Pick it up if you are looking for an album as a surpise for a friend who claims that he has heard enough indie guitar bands for now. The band's songwriter Banah Graf has a few tricks up his sleeve that will make him sit up and take notice.
