Humboldt County, CA, is called home by The Absynth Quintet, a jam grass outfit that mixes bluegrass wiht a bit of jazz and Mexican influenced rhythms. Most of the tracks are instrumentals, but stand out track Dorado's Chest has a nice story about the quest for gold - and a guest appearance by Steve Porter aka Sawdovia on musical saw.
Indigo Shoes will appeal to roots music lovers. The compositions offer plenty of room for the musicians to roam free, experiment, and see what happens. File under New Monsoon, Yonder Mountain String Band and Leftover Salmon. Dancing is optional when you listen to this.
