Obi Best
photo: Jeff Koga

LA's left-field pop singer Obi Best takes her album Capades on the road. She is the support act for The Bird and The Bee for a couple of dates. No wonder, she's a backup singer with that duo on occasion.

The Wading Girl
photo: Jessica Zwolinski (Studio3Z Photography)

Rural tunes from Roanoke, Virginia, are brought to you by The Wading Girl. Billy, Josh, and Sarah recorded their stuff as is, using church like organ, fiddle, sparse percussion and the usual suspects like harp and acoustic guitar. They sound like the missing link between The Animals and Eric Burdon & War. With nasal story telling and serious concerns about the state of things in the US of A (listen to Empty Boxes)) The Wading Girl are ready to make some waves in the Americana folk rock pond.

The Wading Girl EP is released on Uneasy Records. You can download the whole album. Pay what you will.

Tracks:
  1. Empty Boxes
  2. Worn Thin
  3. 5453
  4. Queen City Blues

Hard rock funk pioneers Mother' Finest are about to enter the studio for the recording of a new album:

After MF finishes this weekend, the band will be starting work on the next MF CD. “It’s been a long time coming. We’ve been waiting for the right situation, and it’s time.”
The band will be together in Atlanta, going through new songs for this upcoming musical adventure. We’re guessing we'll be finished no later than June along with a new Media-Site as well. This is the new age of music. MF will be in the middle of it all.

  • 01/16 Amos Southend, Charlotte, NC
  • 01/17 The Handelbar, Greenville SC
  • 01/18 Lincoln Theatre, Raleigh, NC
