Jim White: A Funny Little Cross To Bear

Singer-songwriter extraordinaire Jim White has a new EP called A Funny Little Cross To Bear:

This is a mini-album of “roadside rarities” recorded at some of the country's best indie record stores, radio programs and concert halls. A Funny Little Cross To Bear contains songs like “Jim 3:16”, where he postulates that "a bar is just a church where they serve beer" and a live unreleased version of “Stranger Candy,” a beautiful song left off his much loved album Transnormal Skiperoo.

A Funny Little Cross To Bear is released on Luaka Bop.

Thunder Power

With a name like Thunder Power you might expect a heavy metal outfit putting the fear of the Nordics Gods into a quivering audience. Not so. This band from Omaha, Nebraska, peddle pop music with a rough edge. They have a five track EP called Love Yourself that is quite pleasing for your ears. They name The Smiths, Jello Biafra, Otis Redding, Johnny Cash and Sonic Youth among their musical heroes.

With a lo-fi attitude and a vintage keyboard sound - they even use the much maligned Melodica of yesteryear - the songs of Thunder Power are like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.

Thunder Power:
Matt: vocals, guitar, bass, percussion and melodica
Kacynna: vocals, guitar, bass
Alex: Guitar
Jason: drums
Ian: keys , accordion
Will: guitar, bass and vocals

Thunder Power: Love Yourself

Love Yourself is released on Slumber Party Records.

Tracks:
  1. Take A Hike
  2. Casanova
  3. Your Pantry
  4. Imaginary Rules
  5. Lucky To Be Alive
