Brooklyn Hassidic rap reggae man Matisyahu is busy recording a new album that will be released in 2009. His new 4 track EP Shattered serves as a taster for that album. He has just started a massive USA tour playing the new songs. Several guest artists contribute to the four-song EP, including Jamaican reggae rhythm section Sly & Robbie (drums and bass) on Two Child One Drop and I Will Be Light.

Nobody sounds like Matisyahu, who mixes traditional Jewish music with a contemporary backbeat. Recommended if you are into the Red Hot Chlli Peppers and Michel Franti.

Matisyahu:
Matisyahu Miller: vocals/beatbox
Aaron Dugan: guitar
Jason Fraticelli: bass
Rob Marscher: keyboards
Daniel Sadownick: percussion
Skoota Warner: drums

Love your blog, so glad to have found it.

We hung this post on today's Ladder. I hope folks turn out and give'em some Shillas!
I hung you up in wit'da Stitch'hikas.
We also have a loooong 2nd Line.
Do you know da'Cats at Nolafunk NYC?
http://nolafunknyc.blogspot.com/
Shirley you have heard The New Orleans Klezmer Allstars?
http://www.klezmers.com/dev/

So what is the story with your masthead photo? It looks like Iowa this summer to me. If you fang back down the Ladder you will see that I am quite caught up with floods and Heavy Weather. Can't help it since I was living in Nola during the first week of that Federal Flood in 2005.
Jus'sayin...from the other side of that lens, I swore I would always ask: "Who'dat floatin'by?" I mean, there were real people living in those homes. Of course it might be St Bernard Parish? Terrebone Parish? Lafourche Parish?
The water looks to clean to be New Orleans during Katrina. That water then took on the viscosity of Reaper Semen Full of Death.
Jus'sayin...

Thanks fo'hangin da'Lovely Light, Noble Mons.
