This is excellent! I am so glad that Peter Murphy is taking part in that! Seeing how Bauhaus did once perform with Nico! Would be great to see Marc Almond there as well. Wonder if Lou Reed would play?

Joe Karnes plays bass with Shara from time to time. Great voice!

Er...my level of expectation has changed dramatically since seeing Cale at Azkena with purple hair....i tell you anything could happen at this event...first flash of EDEN?

... with less than 3 weeks to go and a 1,000 tickets to sell a Cale/Eno live in London must be on the cards...(anyone remember all the "where's Eno" calls during the '75 tour!) ...i do not believe Lou Reed could help ticket sales even if Cale makes (a monumental...and he's way too smart) climbdown.

Cale's busy in the middle of recording a new cd and could have said "No" to hosting this event, its easy to criticise him for making Nico's music so inaccessable and now networking/benefitting/credited by such an event as this,
indeed its rare that rock and roll history can be viewed in advance...what is unfolding could be a rare example of this phenomena.

Cale has regrets (as much as a visionary could) not seeing Hendrix live...don't make the same mistake across the borderline.

RIP Nico (sweet one)

I see here that Nick Franglen is included. He played keyboards with a band Cale put together for Patti Smith’s Meltdown Festival in 2005 – The Meatgrinders. They were AMAZING! That was at the Royal Festival Hall.

Lisa Gerard (Dead can dance) just been announced – gorgeous voice.
Well, apart from Peter Murphy, Mark Lanegan, Mark Linkous, and JDB, I'm not too up on the others, but having listened to them since they've been announced here, I do like what I hear.

It would have been great if highly talented 18-year-old Austrian singer Anja Plaschg (aka Soap&Skin), who just did a cover of "Janitor of Lunacy" on her first EP and will play one incarnation of Nico in a theater production in Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, and Prague this winter, would have been included in the line-up.

Cale was interviewed about the concert and his memories of Nico in this morning's Today programme on BBC Radio Four. It's a good segment lasting a few minutes and is right at the end of the programme.

Concert was pro filmed...Cale and band were awesome, especially Dustin Bower. Cale playing "Desertshore" is something i will not forget in a hurry.

Yes the Desertshore finale was fantastic and so was Lisa Gerard but my highlight was My Only Child as done by the Guillemots(I think that's who it was) but who was the woman who played the harmonium in the first half?

Anybody got a full setlist??

She was Liz Green. Excellent!

Thanks Zig, she was great

It's a Dulcitone, not a harmonium - the keys activate soft hammers on metal forks, giving it that spooky fairy-tale sounding tinkle...

10/13/2008 1:17 AM by h
oh, and Mark Linkous was pretty special too...

Yes, it was a Dulcitone, h. Mark Linkous. Loved his nervy stage presence, “I’m Boo Radley”. Loved his straw hat, and the fact that he couldn’t handle the microphone stand and had to call to Cale to help him. Wish I was more up on Nico songs ‘cause he sang two beauties. Also loved the applaud the stage-hand got whenever he came on to move boxes and cables – especially when someone called, ‘More!”.

Ha! no, thinking about it, it was the music stand that Cale (in his elfin boots) had to raise for Mark Linkous because he couldn't see the words to the song – which I think was, You Forgot To Answer.

Its was pro-filmed? Does this mean a DVD will appear? A pal thought the new arrangements were a litte mainstream for his ears. But Nico is like a towering lyrical genius, and hearing her words through the remarkable fresh interpreteations of the great musicians that Cale invited, was astonishing, It was very emotional, especially the song about her litte boy in the first half. Thanks Boyo, you did good for your old friend.
