Listening to an album for the very first time is like travelling without a map. You may get lost, you find something new and interesting, or run into friends from the past. O My Heart by Mother Mother from Vancouver, Canada, is an album that touches base with great eighties bands like The Pixies and The B52s and contemporaries like The Decemberists and The Polyphonic Spree.
O My Heart mixes great vocal harmonies with toe-tapping bass lines and a back beat that tickles your spine. You can still trace the acoustic trio that was the core of the band before they expanded to a quintet. Their songs are build with seamless layers with rock solid results. Highly recommended.
O My Heart is released on Last Gang Records. Release date: September 16th.
