John 5: Requiem

John 5 (born John Lowery, in Grosse Point, Michigan) is a great sideman with a list of credentials as long as the neck of his Fender. He has played with David Lee Roth, Marilyn Manson and is currently a full member of Zombie. Forget the gimmick of naming all the songs on his new Requiem album after torture instruments. Those metal guys like flirting with stuff like that.

Nobody told John 5 what to play, so he could cut loose in the middle of the night when nobody else was needing the studio - even including a country styled piece called Pear of Anguish. He's got the OK from Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, so you know that John 5 isn't just playing the notes - he places them with care, at breath taking speed at times.

Requiem is released on Mascot Records. Release date: May 26th. Buy it here.

Tracks:
  1. Sounds of Impalement
  2. Heretic's Fork
  3. Noisemaker's Fife
  4. Pity Belt
  5. Cleansing The Soul
  6. The Judas Cradle
  7. Pear Of Anguish
  8. The Lead Sprinkler
  9. Scavenger's Daughter
  10. Requiem

Eli Jones

This year's Eli Jones summer tour is a one show affair in their hometown Chicago:

Chicago-based pop/soul octet Eli Jones will perform its first and last summer show on Friday June 13 at Martyrs’. The truncated summer—usually a busy time for this hardworking soul band—gives lead singer Stefanie Berecz time to start a new chapter in her life: motherhood. Pregnancy has led Berecz to reflect on the importance of music: "There is so much more meaning to my life now and I'm ready to let everyone in on this journey through our music."

She will be back in the fall.
