The Box Social is one of those bands that you need to listen a couple of times to find out what the hell is going on in their songs. To the uninitiated it's just another indie guitar band, one of a zillion playing the college circuit, hungry and moderately talented. This quartet from Madison, Wisconsin, is a far better group than that. They name the usual suspects as their influences (Beatles, Tom Petty, Nirvana, Sonic Youth), but they have found their own sound which is best described as nerdy rock. The Box Social are a rougher version of Weezer blending melody with grunge outburts.
Get Going is their first full length and it is a ripping collection of road tested material. It comes with a nice but slightly goofy video of the recording process: The Box Social Makes A Record.
