Radiohead Remix

Want to create your own Radiohead mix? Try it with Nude, the new Radiohead single.

Radiohead, iTunes and GarageBand are giving you the opportunity to remix the band's new single "Nude".

To make remixing easy, the separate 'stems'* from the song are available to purchase from iTunes _here_. The 'stems' available are bass, voice, guitar, strings/fx and drums. You can mix them in any way you like, either by adding your own beats and instrumentation, or just remixing the original parts.

If you purchase all five 'stems' from iTunes during the first week they're available, you'll be sent an access code to a GarageBand file ready to open in GarageBand or Logic. However, you don't need GarageBand to do a remix, all the stems are in iTunes Plus format and compatible with several music software platforms.

Finished mixes can be uploaded here where the public will listen and vote for their favourite remix (voting ends May 1st). You can also create a widget allowing votes from your own website, Facebook or MySpace page to be counted as 'mix votes' back on radioheadremix.com. Radiohead will listen to the best remixes.

Nude is out now in the UK on CD, 7" and download.

'stems' are the component parts of the song.

Horizontaal Motorblog

Last year Here comes the flood won the XS4ALL award for best blog. There is no money involved, not even an ugly award that can gather dust on a shelf in the shed. However, you have to pick the next winner on April 1st (no joke). So I spend far too much time wading through tons of brain-dead blogs (think: pix of the kids, the building of new a home, getting in touch with your inner self) and I compiled a shortlist. A really short list, in fact. This year's winner is:

Horizontaal Motorblog

It's in Dutch, it's about motorcycles and it's the addendum to the horizon-taal.nl website. They have tweaked and tuned the blog to get a same look and-feel as the main website. It is written with the tongue firmly in cheek and updated regularly. Congratulations and best of of luck picking a winner on April 1st, 2009.

It's would have kinda obvious to post Born To Be Wild, so here are a couple of tracks that were inspired by those loud machines that are a bitch to drive in bad weather.

MP3: Arlo Guthrie - The Motorcycle Song
MP3: Phil Lesh & Friends - Cold Rain and Snow
(live at The Warfield, San Francico, CA - 1999/07/03 - complete show)
MP3: The Del McCoury Band - 1952 Vincent Black Lightning
MP3: Shocking Blue - Harley Davidson
