Dawn Landes

They cleaned out her NYC apartment and she lost her almost finished album. The thieves went away with her laptop. Bodyguard is the teaser for Fireproof, the album that will happen after all. Ladies and gentlemen: Dawn Landes.

Caroline Herring

Caroline Herring crafts her songs with care. Her new album Lantana is best described as haunting Deep South Americana. She has a sharp eye for what lies beneath all the love and tenderness that seems the be subject matter of her songs if you don't listen closely enough. Paper Gown is about a 23 year old mother who drowned her sons.

Caroline Herring: Lantana

Herring named her album after a "wild-looking, flowering plant that grows like crazy". It's an aptly chosen title for a collection of songs telling you tales about ordinary madness. Gothic country, indeed.

Lantana comes out on March 4th on Signature Sounds.

Escape from MySpace

A new series on HCTF: Escape from MySpace, unsigned bands that are actually quite good.

Dialect

Four guys from Millstone Township, New Jersey, teamed up to form Dialect. They are a jam band and they obviously listened quite a lot to that Vermont foursome. Longish songs, double tracked vocals.

Dialect:
Ian O'loughlin: guitar, vocals
Liam Jaeger: guitar, vocals
Andy Williamson: bass guitar
Matt Lauritsen: drums, miscellaneous percussion, scratching the top of a vodka bottle
