Okkerville River - Golden Opportunities mixtape

Okkervil Rvier is offering a digital mixtape called Golden Opportunities as a free download. These guys have excellent taste.

We recorded these songs at radio stations, at shows, in peoples' apartments, in hotel stairways. They were done here and there all around the United States and Europe, with the eventual intention of being rounded up in this collection. You can download artwork for the album from this site for making a physical copy of the CD packaging.

Ike Turner has left the planet. His unique guitar tone was first heard on Rocket 88. He will best remembered for the string of classic singles with his then wife Tina (he used to kick he around too).

To all whom who loved and cherished Ike, those who were fortunate to know Ike, the many of you who have supported Ike and connected with Ike through the music it is with sadness and a heavy heart that we announce that Ike passed today at the age of 76.

Watch this clip of I Want To Take You Higher, recorded live in 2002 at the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague.
