The Cat Empire

The Cat Empire is pretty big in Australia and is now trying to win over the rest of the world with their new album Two Shoes. Recorded in Havana, Cuba, this disc is modern day version of Booker T. and the MGs. If Booker was into reggae and had added a vocalist, that is.

Two Shoes is a feel good album as a whole, but the lyrics dig deeper that sun, sea and sex. Spot the Homer reference in The Night That Never Ends:

Morning is
one thousand dreams away
and our expedition
telling us to stay
so stay we will we’ve got that gypsy lady
perched upon our bow
and the empire ship be heading
where the wild ones they are now
oh how the gods look down
and frown at those who never stood said
'my name is no-one'
then went a little mad

The Cat Empire - Two Shoes

O, and can somebody explain why the original Aussie version has an extra track 1001 that can't be found on the USA release?

The Rock Music Daily worked really hard to get this Gov't Mule clip up at YouTube:

YouTube allows videos that are 100MB in size, and up to 10:00 minutes in length. After 14 (fourteen!) tries, I managed to capture this video from DVD as a 99.5MB, 9:59 video.

Watch the Mule performing I Shall Return > Nasty Dogs & Funky Kings at Stubb’s Barbeque in Austin, TX - 1999/05/08.
