The next Metallica album will be released in the summer of 2007. Drummer Lars Ulrich:

I think we've realized that the creative process works a little slower for us than it used to, and we're OK with that. It's not a bad thing, unless, of course, you're waiting for a record.

Well, some people think you need a really big room for drums, but that's a problem. You're stuck with the ambience that the room had. You just need to get a medium sized room and deaden everything down, then add reverb or effects later.
