Eric Clapton hits the road with a kick-ass band. Clapton's band will be: Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall - guitars, Willie Weeks - bass, Steve Jordan - drums, Billy Preston - keyboard.

Latest news is Derek Trucks is in Clapton’s touring band, and is featured on Clapton’s new record.

Dream Theater continue their tradition of covering a classic album in it’s entirety at any two-night stands in the same city. Earlier this month they performed Deep Purple’s Made in Japan at two shows in Japan (January 13 in Tokyo and January 15 in Osaka).

Frank Zappa

Frank Zappa made an album of Edgar Varèse compositions a few months before his death. This last completed project will finally be released after a long and tedious legal struggle.

The long-awaited Varèse album may be coming out after all, possibly by the end of this year. “The Varèse album is on hold for a very specific reason,” Zappa’s widow, Gail, said in December. “We documented three recording sessions with a film crew, and they absconded with the film and tapes, and it took me eight years and lawsuits to get the sucker back.
