John Lennon

Imagine really bad covers for a good cause.

Avril Lavigne, Black Eyed Peas, Sum 41, the Deftones and Duran Duran are among the artists recording John Lennon songs to raise funds for human rights organization Amnesty International. The recordings, which will be released as downloads through amnesty.org, will be part of Amnesty's new youth-oriented music campaign that begins in January.

John Cale
Acclaimed singer/songwriter Alejandro Escovedo, whose career has been sidelined since 2003 by a battle with hepatitis C, is working on an album that is being produced by Velvet Underground co-founder John Cale. Due early next year, the as-yet-untitled set will be the inaugural release under a new deal with indie roots-rock label Back Porch Records, home to such acts as the Neville Brothers, Charlie Seton and John Hammond.

Over the course of their short and turbulent career, the Sex Pistols released a single album – Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols – that ranks as one of the most important rock records ever released. The album changed the course of rock and roll kicking the British punk movement into high gear.
