Trey Anastasio about Phish in the Illinois Entertainer:

Q. So keep all Phish questions at bay, because they’re not getting back together anytime soon … right?
A. “It’s so funny that nobody’s asked me that! We’re definitely not now, and I would never do that because it was all the rage. All I’ll say to that is I’ve said so many stupid things in the past, that have come out of my mouth, if there’s one thing I’m finally starting to learn is I don’t know what’s going to happen. But I’d like to play music for a long time and I love those guys. Who knows?”

I think a big thing to realize that there are so many phans now that never got the music until it was too late. There are so many of us who love phish but never got the experience. Please come back for us.

hey man, your an awesome guitar player. the deal is, all things are filled up and than run out. take a gass of tank, you have money you go to the stationa dnt han you fill your car up, and after about 500 miles of driving, your completely dry. we understand thats the way it might feel, but there is always some feeling of motivation to just go back and get some more gasoline to keep you running another 500 miles. we all want you to come back. please?

i love phish, but shame on all of you for trying to force something that is not meant to be. phish was one of the most, if not the most, amazing live acts i have ever seen. they brought a brand of witchcraft to the stage that has not ever been discovered. i also happen to be a huge dead fan, however i am not one of those that believes phish was the next dead. phish was an anomily that not only existed in, but created its own scene. there are a bunch of deadheads that despise phish and a bunch of phans that despise the dead. that is because they try to connect the two. they are seperate entities that do not coincide in any way other than that they both carry on the tradition of the traveling troubador entertaining the people for his own entertainment. the only comparison i will make(or not make) between the two is that phish did the one thing that the dead could not; WALK AWAY!!! in the later years jerry, bob, phil, billy, and mickey were under a tremendous amount of pressure to keep the grateful dead "machine" rolling. they were exhausted and it showed. they could not however bring themselves to leave and let everyone take care of themselves. which ultimately ended in the untimely death of garcia and the temporary demise of the band. phish would not allow that to happen. whatever the reason, be it strong musical feelings or chemical problems they said "NO." they would not fade away like the last embers of a bonfire, they would explode in a fabulous burst and provide one last showing of brilliant light before the dark. if they so choose to resume their road or studio activity it will be the correct decision and the light will burn all the brighter. the image brought forth will be that of a phoenix, a brilliant flash of light, ash, and then a blinding rebirth of glory the likes of which no man has ever witnessed. until that day, we all need to drop to our knees and thank god for the brief moment at he allowed us to listen to the music. for it was surely an act of the divine that those four men managed to meet, get along, and jam in a world of uncertain billions.

"they would not fade away like the last embers of a bonfire, they would explode in a fabulous burst and provide one last showing of brilliant light before the dark" ~ donald willet

I don't know how many shows you have witnessed in your lifetime, I myself have been to 11 phish shows, including the festivals, IT and Coventry. The most unsatisfying show I ever saw was the one where they were going to "explode in a fabolous burst and provide one last showing ... blah blah". The festival was horribly planned and some of the blame lies on mother nature, I know. The music was very poorly executed, small mistakes made throughout the two nights, and they couldn't complete one of the songs because of an emotional Page. Therefore, I make the argument that Phish did "fade away like the last embers of a bonfire" and need to make a reunion ASAP to restore the faith of the fans who are disappointed by the bands final tour and festival.

I started listening to Phish after their breakup in '04 and oh how i wish i appreciated their music much earlier. Trey, I dont think you, mike, page, and jon should do a tour if the four of you know that the raging flames of our beloved Phish has long since burned out. However, I think if the four of you do have it in you, I hope to God that you guys do decide to have a reunion tour. Your music has touched me, inspired me, and motivated me as a musician and i think all of your phans, including myself, just want to be able to touch the flames one more time.

It has to happen! I agree with the man who was talking about some people getting the music too late! IT HAS TO HAPPEN!

I agree 100% with the arguement that so many people are left without experiencing Phish live because I am one of them. I began listening to them during the last tour in '05 and over the past two years have come to realize what an opportunity I missed out on. I believe in and respect the band's decision to end on a good note, but I think they were beginning to be understood by more and more people when they called it quits. I am one of thousands who yearn for just one tour, even if we just make one show, to experience the magic firsthand. It would make all of my live albums all the more meaningful. Trey, Page, Mike, and Fish: if any of you are reading this, and if you really believe you all still have the passion to make that miracle happen for us, it would mean so much. I love you all.
