What makes the difference between vandalism and terrorism? A local train near the town of Nijmegen was attacked with an improvised device last Friday morning. No explosives were involved, but the construction of the device makes it clear to me that it was built to maim or kill.

According to the police spokesman a tie down strap had been attached on a side of the rails. These straps are used to fix cargo in among others freight carriages. To the end of the strap a bench-vice had been tied up. That end had been thrown over the overhead line of the track, so that at contact a short circuit would arise.

Physician sees 'presenile dementia' in Bush's faltering speech

I always thought that George W. Bush wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, and that that explained all those Bushisms. According to Online Journal it's sadder, and much more alarming: the American president is suffering from presenile dementia.

... "Slowly developing cognitive deficits, as demonstrated so clearly by the President [sic], can represent only one diagnosis, and that is 'presenile dementia'! Presenile dementia is best described to nonmedical persons as a fairly typical Alzheimer's situation that develops significantly earlier in life, well before what is usually considered old age."
Dr. Carson adds, "It [presenile dementia] runs about the same course as typical senile dementias, such as classical Alzheimer's—to incapacitation and, eventually, death, as with President Ronald Reagan, but at a relatively earlier age." Dr. Carson adds, " President [sic] Bush's 'mangled' words are a demonstration of what physicians call 'confabulation,' and are almost specific to diagnosis of a true dementia." His advice: "Bush should immediately be given the advantage of a considered professional diagnosis, and started on drugs that offer the possibility of retarding the slow but inexorable course of the disease."

exhibition revisited

I spent today hosting Annelie's exhibition and I had ample time to admire her work at leisure, for the visitor count averaged one per hour. It is very soothing for the mind to spend five hours surrounded by art, I promptly fell in love with the triptych Tulip, naked lady, tulip. I now have an option to buy it.

Sunday is the last day of the exhibit, so get on your bike and visit Wester Amstel. For an impression go to my picture gallery of Annelie and Carine, I just added some pictures I made today.

The General called my attention to some strange events in the state of Utah. Suddenly the sales of Kleenex, lotion and batteries surged in the shops on the campus of Brigham Young University, the academic centre of Mormon science.

The reason for this unexpected raise in the purchase of masturbatory appliances could be traced to an advertisement in the local student newspaper for I can't...I'm Mormon t-shirts. The ad was quickly pulled by the authorities.

According to the General it is now quiet again in Zion, although I still don't know what this dry humping is he speaks about.

exhibition

on sunday i attended the opening of the exhibition by Annelie Seegers and Carine Burger. since i am much more comfortable working than just visiting i immediately disappeared into the kitchen to pour drinks for the thirsty masses.
but i did find the time to admire the art, listen to the band and play with my new digital camera.
