Ice towerBuilt by the freedom-loving guys of the Alaskan Alpine Club, this ice tower stands 150 feet tall on the outskirts of Fairbanks. Just stick an array of nozzles to the end of a hose, put it up a pole and start spraying, the Alaskan winter does the rest. Sounds easy, but a lot of engineering and ice-climbing was involved.

Anna and Kate

Grainy pictures taken with a hand-held camera and available light, no soundtrack, a very puritanian story about moral choices and religion. Dutch critics didn't like it, probably because they are fed up with Dogma, but I did. Four stars, two hankies.
