From The Devil's Dictionary:

CAT, n.
A soft, indestructible automaton provided by nature to be kicked when things go wrong in the domestic circle

Meet Otje. His cat-number is #2 if we do the headcount on morning parade. Actually he is my number one cat, but I had to leave him behind when I fled from Grozny, now almost two and a half years ago. Grozny means terrible in Russian, and that's what I usually call the town of Eindhoven (shudders). When we rejoined I already had another cat staying with me, the famous D.P de Logé. D.P de Logé now goes by the name of Poempa, because he is no longer a houseguest, I adopted him.

Otje is a nine years old black-and-white castrate and Poempa is a two years old tabby, who has undergone the Procedure as well. Otje is definitely the alpha cat, but lately Poempa has found out that it is very exciting to ambush him from above, although it only needs one snarl from Otje and Poempa dashes off, to cower under the couch.
