Gegen die Wand (Head-On)

Sie können Ihrem Leben auch ein Ende setzen, ohne sich umzubringen (You can end your life without killing yourself), the doctor tells Cahit, a fourty-something Turkish German, who ended up in a psychiatric hospital because he smashed his car into a solid wall without braking after yet another night of binge drinking, coke snorting and barfighting. Enter Sibel, a twenty year old Turkish German girl who stays in the same ward after a desperate attempt to escape her repressing family. She wants to party, she wants to fuck different men, and her brother broke her nose because she was seen holding hands with a boy. The two get married and tragedy ensues.

An intense movie, with fantastic acting by the whole cast, especially by leading actors Sibel Kekilli and Birol Ünel, a fast-paced direction by Fatih Akin and a very eclectic soundtrack, ranging from Depeche Mode to a Roma Orchestra shot against the backdrop of Istanbul, commenting on the action like the choir in a Greek tragedy.

Yeah, I went to that movie a coupla weeks ago. I went with a friend of mine who was curious about the film, while I didn't know anything about it. So I was pleasantly surprised! Greek tragedy, indeed! Only thing that bothered me was the last 30 minutes: could've been done in five tight minutes instead. But I tell everyone they should go see the movie, coz it's great!
Did you know about Sibel Kekilli? Check imdb.com - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1402546/
Doesn't change anything about her great acting performance!
