As a Booker Prize winner, there's no shortage on material on the book on the web. Here's a personal impression.
In the past i have had to work with Indian people. It was at a time our software development was off-shored. I got in touch with people from Chennai who had seen the latest Hollywood movies faster than you and I. And owned them on DVD as well. About the only time a cultural difference became explicit, was when we were in the home of a Dutch colleague who owned a big flatscreen TV that was quite visible from the street. The Indians wondered about the fact that it didn't get stolen immediately by passers by.
