Hier een samenvatting van mijn hand van Habermas - Verwetenschappelijkte politiek en openbare mening (1964) - omdat er een nieuw kabinet is.
In this diagram the interactions between System and Lifeworld as put forward in Habermas' theory of communicative action are shown. You see that according to Habermas, a subject has at least four 'roles' in society, which are coupled in pairs as consumer / employee and citizen / client.
I think any theory of society has to deal with these four roles if it wants to claim to comply to certain completeness criteria. Because in fact we are not only consumers, or only employees etc. So, e.g. in a lot of talk about the free market the discussion is centred around our roles as consumer only. Saying that because of the efficiency the prices will be lower, which is good for us... As consumer yes, but as an employee?
