d-shot: on the way to marsabit - kenya

To be a journalist in Third World Countries often means that improvising transport gets the highest priority. The question you ask yourself:

- is there a road at all?
- is it accessible?
- are there any means of transport?

Once you answer these questions positively, then you can start doing research, and if you wish establishing contacts.

Shown here is a travel across the Trans African Highway (yes) from Isiolo to Marsabit. Went there to cover the drought beginning this year. On the road to Marsabit there is hardly any official transport, and you have to hitch hike on a passing vehicles. The rates are, amazingly enough, fixed.

The worse the situation, the worse the road.

Have a good evening.
