Finished the first day of shooting the goings inside the Rwanda Tribunal in Arusha. This international criminal court opened the first case in 1997, and since then some 24 suspects were sentenced, and three acquitted. That's almost ten years of having court hearings. What strikes me are the costs involved. In a shear decade almost 2 billion US Dollar is spent on staff, lawyers, judges, and supporting staff. Nowadays there are 414 people working in Arusha and sub offices elsewhere. It's incredible that you pay 2 billion for 24 convictions, but if I understood well these are the costs involved. When opening international tribunals like this, it's something to think about. So far in Arusha the former prime minister of Rwanda was sentenced to life imprisonment, and mid-April another suspect was sentenced to 15 years.
This afternoon, or tomorrow a shooting of a court hearing is scheduled.
