The rainy season has started in Kenya, and like usually the rains comes with torrential down pours. Even in Nairobi streets are flooded, and in some estates it would be better to have a boat now.
The rain also came down in the drought stricken areas in the North and the East. Roads were washed away, and 3,000 people in the North East are left stranded when a river bank bursted.
It's shows a bitter irony of living in remote areas in Kenya. The one moment you fear dying of thirst, the other moment you might be scared of even drowning.
At least it's good that there seems to come an end to the drought. On the other hand international agencies already say that the rain not automatically mean that there is food for the communities in the drought areas. Relief workers cannot reach the affected areas and the food shortages remain.
The UN has launched an $425m appeal to help feed 8m people across East Africa.
