Malaria check up, Meulaboh
Somehow I always manage to come to Western places when there are major shopping bonanzas. That is right now in Singapore where I arrived yesterday. The summer sale started, so thousands of shoppers are flocking on this small island with its big shopping malls. At the airport I discovered that about every hotel is fully booked. Only the five star versions are remaining (yes, Raffles) and the cheapest. Since my budget is not all-star resistant, I chose for a cheap option, the Fragrance Sapphire. When I told my destination to the taxi man, he was nodding gently. 'You're going to Geylan, that's the red light district,' he said once we were in the car. 'Hope you will get some sleep.' He smiled. It proved to be true. The streets of Geylan are full of flickering street lights, and wandering ladies on high heels and light clothes. They're smiling nicely and are quite beautiful. Also there are many bars and restaurants. Instead of using the service of one of the ladies today, I took a bowl of Chinese food. That was mouth watering good. The hotel is cosy, and yes, you see gentlemen in the elevator holding a lady. The guys either look anxious, or rather really relaxed. The hotel offers a Transit Rate. You pay for a two hours stay, that can be extended with one hour. I slept well, but the air-con was too cold and I had to use a blanket.
In an Internet cafe now uploading video reports. You can play games here, and so the place sounds a war zone with all the shooting and bombing. It's incredible, can't even check if there is audio in my reports. Anyway, it's fun in Singapore.
