Defiance

Posted on Saturday, July 25, 2009 11:31 PM

Defiance is a movie which I had a long time hanging around to be seen. And I'm happy that I saw it, even though it is no masterpiece. It has a compelling story and the story enrolls in a slow pace, but still there were some moments that were just a bit boring.
"Defiance" is a World War II movie about four russian-jewish brothers which hide out in the forest. Their presence isn't unnoticed by farmers and Germans alike, and more jews (which have fled into the woods also) join them. A community is started in the woods, but has to struggle to stay alive and survive Germans, winter, famine, disease, etc.
Based on a true story, this movie takes respect from you. It's not has heavy as "Schindler's list" but more serious than the average war-movie.
As said before, no masterpiece, but recommended nonetheless on a rainy night.

My rating: 7 out of 10
