I was really looking forward to this movie and so had my expectations high. Jason Voorhees is one of my teenage-time heroes, as I was an avid fan of the "Friday the 13th"-movies. This reboot is meant to put the Friday-movies back on the foreline...
It was a deception for me... Maybe I'm not the target group anymore for this kind of movies with my 36 years, but I wonder why every teenager in these movies has to fulfill some stupid profile?! Why do the ladies have to be blond, own big breasts which they fill with gallons of alcohol and have as only goal in life to fulfill the sexual needs of their male counterparts?! And why are the guys always blond sport jocks, which have nothing else to do in life than to drink and teach their female partners why it is so wonderful to fulfill those horizontal goals mentioned above?! The movie just focuses too much on these flat subjects (read: targets for Jason) that you almost forget that the most terrifying killer in the world is running around them in the forest! More than "My bloody Valentine 3D" (which I saw last week), this movie feels like a parody instead of a respectful reboot/remake/rewathever! Mister Michael Bay is (for me) falling into the Ronald Emmerich-line and I'm not happy with that...
If someone would take the seriousness, cruelty and gore from movies like "Hostel" and "Saw I" and combine them with "Friday the 13th"... Now THAT would be a reboot! Jason didn't get the respect he deserved in this movie.

hehe, I thought it was excellent for the same reasons you thought it wasn't!
