What I See Is What You Get

Why so serious?! Why? Well, because if you don't take your audience for serious, you cannot earn their respect. And that's exactly what Christopher Nolan did with The Dark Knight. This movie is at this moment (for me at least) together with Kung Fu Panda, the best production of the year so far.
What I experienced today at the Cinema Expo in Amsterdam blew me away. This movie pulls you in and doesn't let go until the end. I forgot all the things I had to do and everything around me and that's one of the things a good movie is able to do with the viewer. The movie is powerful, dark and unsettling. It's an adult comic movie, incomparable to the juvenile Spider-Mans. This movie is full of surprises and unexpected twists!
And what Heath Ledger did to get into the role of the Joker I don't know, but that man deserves an Oscar on his grave. Heath wasn't recognizable and put down a super-freaky and scary Joker; you wouldn't want to meet him in the dark.

The camera work is superb! It's visually stunning; the shots, the angles, the views... Awesome! And in IMAX as I saw it, it will amaze you. The sound made me jump out of my seat at times.

The story is excellent. Just when you think it's going to end, it all goes to an higher level. And this happens several times. And with a running time of 2 hours and a half, you're getting every cent back you spent on the ticket for the movie. This is what cinema is made for! This movie is to be seen in a cinema. And if you're lucky to have an IMAX theater near, go see it there.

I can't wait to see it again and it's been a long time since I've had this feeling! Ah, before I forget: just before you go, think about how you can make a pencil disappear...
