Things we lost in the fire

Posted on Saturday, April 26, 2008 12:46 AM

It's been a busy and not so positive week for me. At work we had a power-outage for two days, me and my family weren't allowed to go ahead to buy the house we applied for and on top of it all an ex-colleague of mine died. Especially his death left me thinking of the important things in life...
Tomorrow I'll be leaving with my son to Portugal for holidays. An exciting time, as one full day alone with your son is already exhausting. Let alone two and a half weeks! I'll be enjoying our time together as much as possible. Life is too short.

Things we lost in the fire is an excellent movie. It's slow and shot beautifully with a lot of close-ups. I recommend this movie to all, but be aware that it's not an happy movie, so you need to be "in the mood" for this kind of movie. It deals with drug addiction and death and all its aftermaths. Benicio del Toro once again delivers an A-performance; my respect for him as an actor is growing with every movie I see him in.

I hope to see some movies in Portugal and to be able to write about it here on my blog. If not, check back again from the 13th of May on. 'Till then!

My rating: 8 out of 10
