Librarian
When I was just a baby, before I could speak
I would line up all my letter blocks alphabetically
and now it’s my vocation and my passion to assign
every decimal-numbered shelf to every decimal-numbered spine
I’m a librarian, I’m a librarian
and I like it quiet so the pages can be heard
I’m a librarian, I’m a librarian
and I do it for the love of the word
I bring order out of chaos, I shine light into the dark
because power comes from knowledge just like fire from a spark
and like Gutenberg and Luther with press and pen in hand
I take the message to the masses in a form they understand
I’m a librarian, I’m a librarian
and I like it quiet so the pages can be heard
I’m a librarian, I’m a librarian
and I do it for the love of the word
and when the day is over I go home at 5:03
and I give thanks to God and then to Andrew Carnegie
and the U.S. Constitution and Orwell, Poe, and Twain
and I’ll return at 8AM to open up again
I’m a librarian, I’m a librarian
and I like it quiet so the pages can be heard
I’m a librarian, I’m a librarian
and I do it for the love of the word

Reference Librarian
I walk into the room and I can feel you raise your head
I know that you’re forgetting every word that you just read
Now you come walking over like you’re some old pal of mine
Well, I’ll be glad to help you, but you’ll have to wait in line, ‘cause I’m a reference librarian
I got that MLS
I’m the one you need to see
When your bibliography is in a mess
You’ve got a big term paper due. You better start it soon
‘Cause you just figured out its due tomorrow afternoon
You need two dozen sources on the pygmy crocodile
Let me at the keyboard, kid, and watch a master’s style
Don’t talk to the professor. She doesn’t want to hear
The graduate assistant has just trucked out for a beer
Your buddy the computer nerd ain’t gonna save your skin
He can’t get the data out even when he put it in
We got OPACs and abstracts, sudocs and CD-ROM
The microfiche you’re fingering like it’s some kind of bomb
The cold fact of the closed stacks has left your brain destroyed
Well, if we made it easy, kid, I’d end up unemployed, ‘cause
Well, I’m the reference librarian. You plagiarists confess.
Well, you can’t go off to ski because you’re flunkin’ history
If research is the key I can boost you to a B
You’ll avoid catastrophe if you put your faith in me, oh yes
When you know where to look, you don’t need to guess.
Muziek: http://cdbaby.com/mp3lofi/roblopresti-03.m3u beetje bluesy...
