Grand Theft Auto IV is dé computergame van het moment. Down Beat Magazine vraagt zich af of jazz deel van het succes van de game is. Een feature van het spel zijn 16 ingebouwde radio stations met een breed scala aan muziek, van rock tot klassieke jazz. En wie kan er beter deze nummers aan elkaar praten dan de 83 jarige jazzlegende Roy Haynes?
Haynes heeft een gastrol in Grand Theft Auto IV als DJ van JNR 108.5 - Jazz Nation Radio - een radiozender die klassiekers van Chet Baker “Let's get lost“ en Haynes zelf “Snap Crackle“ te gehore brengt.
"I travel all over the world performing this music, connecting with the audiences,” aldus Haynes. "But this is an opportunity to connect with a different audience, in a different way. Jazz has always been about personal expression, but it's also about communication. This is an excellent opportunity to communicate this music to millions of young people, so I have been really excited about it!”
