Article by Peter Staudenmaier
This article presents a brief and necessarily schematic overview of the ecological components of Nazism, emphasizing both their central role in Nazi ideology and their practical implementation during the Third Reich. A preliminary survey of nineteenth and twentieth century precursors to classical ecofascism should serve to illuminate the conceptual underpinnings common to all forms of reactionary ecology.

So the nazi's were enviormentalists, so what? It was also in Nazi Germany that the first furosious antismoking campane was established, it was nazi scientist who were the first ones to openly, and publicly make clear that smoking caused lung disease, does that mean that we should all "show Hitler" and pick up a cigarette?...OFCOURSE NOT! So many nazi's were enviormentalists, that does not mean that we should not protect ourselves from the dangers of global warming. Anyway it wasen't the nazi's who gave the Germans they're love for nature. The Germans like the Japanese and Native Americans have always had a reverance for nature;love and respect for nature has been embeded in the German phyce for thousands of years and I think we should follow their wise example in this matter. Even if your not at all impressed by nature, you should support enviormentalism anyway if you care about yourself and humans on earth. So the Nazi's were enviormentalists, so what. Everyone can be right about something, even if their wrong about everything else. So I think we should save ourselves by saving the enviorment even if the nazi's would agree....by the way I wouldn't smoke if I were you.

The fact that the nazi's banned advertizments glorifying tobbaco and made the first anti-smokeing "propoganda" dosen't make me want to put Joe the Camel back on billboards. Just because Germans under Nazism savored their ability to breath fresh air dosen't make me want to move to toxic oil plantation because I think they should be banned and replaced with hemp farms.
