I have a plea to all American voters. Please consider the very real possibility that if McCain is voted into the White House, chances are that Palin will become president.

She’s worse than Dan ‘Potatoe’ Quayle. An utter incompetent. A nut-job. Empty-headed. Note that this is the harvest of just the first month.

The rest of the world can’t vote, but please, elect someone who is at least marginally competent this time. Eight years of Bush has damaged the world badly enough, even more Republicans in the White House will be devastating, not only for the US, but for the world.

There's quite a few of us who think and feel just as you do. Our problem is the last two elections by voting day gave every indication we would win - until the votes were counted. We have found out since that Gore did win Florida - in Nov of 2001. Too late to make the change, especially under the circumstances. The press basically ignored it.

There is enough circumstantial and direct evidence to think that Ken Blackwell & Co delivered Ohio to BushCO in 2004.

Now we are desperately trying to get enough people registered as Dems and to the polls in Nov to overwhelm these efforts. Also working on disabling as many of the voter disenfranchisement tactics as possible.

As much as I hate to admit it, the Americans who are fighting the bailout are refusing to acknowledge that they bought (hook, line & sinker) the GOP mantra of deregulation and free market morality. They voted the people in who cut those regs and allowed the industry to prove to the taxpayers that they won't control themselves - anymore than a gambler, drug addict or alcoholic. So we will all have to bail out the financial crooks instead of getting universal health care, better education and our infrastructure rebuilt.

Life in America is not very hopeful right now. Obama is still the only answer, but the change we can bring about has become very limited with this financial mess. Not that some of us didn't expect a big problem. Just not that it would take this form.

And if they steal this one, be prepared that a fair number of Americans are seriously considering emigrating.

<p>Thanks Ginny, that is at least some encouragement. I guess we’ll just have to wait and observe the outcome of the vote from over here. Unfortunately, we will not be able to escape the financial mess created over the last years in the USA. </p>
<p>Of course, Bush started the whole mess <a href="http://isteve.blogspot.com/2008/09/2002-bushs-speech-to-white-house.html">himself</a>, with support from both parties. Shortsighted is the appropriate term I think.</p>
