The special issue of Interacting with Computers on Design for Civil Society is online as a complementary issue, see here. The editors are Andrew Dearden (Sheffield Hallam University) and Steve Walker (Leeds University). My article in this issue, on programming for cognitive justice, forms the basis for my research. You can find a copy in the document section in the left column of this page.

I am taking part in a project called Technology & Social Action: "a project to foster dialogue and collaboration between activists in social movements, voluntary and community organisations and technology designers". See www.technologyandsocialaction.org. The project is co-ordinated by some of the same people who edited a special issue of Interacting with Computers, a human-computer interaction journal, on Design for Civil Society.

On the second day I heard that my mother's husband had a serious heart attack. His condition deteriorated further in the hospital. He has been reanimated three times now. My mother is coping but this is a very difficult time. I am on the phone to the Netherlands a lot and I use Skype for updates from my brother. So this is a slow start. I wonder if I should start packing my bags...
