Dit kant toch niet: Minister van Defensie Kamp denkt weg te kunnen komen met wat oppervlakkige verklaringen en oud nieuws om de Nederlandse betrokkenheid met de Irak Oorlog te onderbouwen.
nu.nl/ANP schrijft: "En wat betreft de reden waarom het kabinet politieke steun heeft verleend aan de oorlog van de VS, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Australië tegen Irak: die was nog precies dezelfde als het kabinet al herhaalde malen aan de Kamer had duidelijk gemaakt. Dat had te maken met het feit dat de Iraakse dictator Saddam Hussein stelselmatig weigerde resoluties van de Veiligheidsraad uit te voeren en ook geen antwoord wenste te geven op 128 cruciale vragen van de VN-wapeninspecteurs, aldus Kamp."
Juist deze reden is een drogreden: De inval van de VS in Irak was immers ook tegen de beslissingen van de VN-Veiligheidsraad in.
Over de Coalition of the Willing scherst Michael Moore in Fahrenheit 9-11 het volgende, ondersteund met clichématige beelden over de landen die hij noemt:
Bush: "You will find out who is in the coalition of the willing."

Moore: "Afganistan? Oh yeah, they had an army! Our army! I guess that is one way to build a coalition. Just to keep invading countries. Yes, with our mighty coalition in tact, we were ready" Rumsfeld: "I would allmost say it's the mother of all coalitions."
Andere landen zoals Korea en Spanje zijn er, voor zover ik weet, pas later erbij gekomen. Michael Moore's collage is natuurlijk ook grappend bedoeld, maar het scherts wel een beeld van hoe "ons" kabinet zich heeft laten inpakken door de Bush Administration.
