I woke up with the news this morning, announcing that a devastating earthquake had hit Chile just off the coast with a magnitude of 8.8. That's one hell of a quake; even worse than the Haiti quake.
Here's what scares me; countries around the Pacific Ocean are in a state of alert. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a warning, the highest level, for the entire Pacific region, including Hawaii and countries as far away as Russia and Japan.
For those who aren't really aware of the impact; the distance between Santiago and Tokyo is 17000km! Straight as the crow flies; ocean all the way, save for a few small islands which won't be there for a while in a few hours.
Forecasts predict that the wave will hit the east coast of Japan and Russia somewhere tomorrow; we'll see.
