Well, BUMA got back on their ridiculous plan of charging bloggers for embedding YouTube clips containing music; they won't bother personal blogs and journals.

Actually too bad that they backed off so soon.
If they had kept it up, perhaps the average person would finally have noticed how insane Buma became, and the call for revision of all forms of Intellectual Property might have sounded.
They caved in because they didn't want to wake up the normal population.

I'm not sure of that; I think the Dutch blogosphere pretty much made their point, which was, after all, the target audience.
The average Joe technically doesn't have anything to do with BUMA; unless they cook up some crazy idea of charging everyone up the wazoo for playing music in their cars, Joe wouldn't mind BUMA for a second. However, we are already paying for our radio's through our taxes, remember?
Joe's concerns lie more in the direction of Stichting Thuiskopie, who are still very much on getting that extra fee implemented on music players.
